“BeratJung” and “BewegJung” – Advice that Moves Young People

Despite the multitude of different counseling platforms and offers for pupils of all ages, it is striking that many of these tend to make use of settings and communication channels that are not primarily oriented towards the lifeworlds of these young people.

To permanently improve the quality of counseling services for this target group, the bachelor project “BeratJung und BewegJung – Beratung, die junge Menschen bewegt” in the context of a triangular survey design is intended to supply three central insights: By placing the focus on the pupils’ perspective, the project wants to find out 1) which ways and channels the young people primarily use to seek advice, 2) which preferences they have when it comes to the accompanying setting and structure (significance of digital and virtual spaces as well as aspects of movement), and 3) whether there is a demand for complementary and end “products” (e.g., in the form of information and video portals, such as on the counseling service’s website).

The superordinate research question is: How can counseling tie up with the lifeworlds of pupils by keeping with the times? This question is addressed in the project workshop in cooperation with compulsory schools, upper secondary schools, and sports clubs in the form of quantitative survey designs (questionnaire, descriptive statistics regarding pupils’ media use) and qualitative ones (interview). In this way, the students’ perspective is to be put at the center.
