Bunter gARTEN – Coming Together to Shape a Green Space for Shared Use
In the academic year 2016/17, students developed the project "bunter gARTEN" as part of the project workshop "Urbane Subsistenz – Nachhaltiges Leben in St. Pölten" (Urban Subsistence – Sustainable Living in St. Pölten) and took their first steps towards its successful implementation. They defined deciding on a location (including the use agreement), finding cooperation partners, and building a project team as important milestones.
In 2018, the project was first launched in the gardening season. This sparked an exciting journey towards shaping the location together and cultivating it for shared use. The objective was to make room for and create green space enabling low-threshold and inclusive access in the spirit of participation and community work.
The project workshop 2018/19 is dedicated to analyzing and evaluating the gardening year of 2018 and understanding the need for additional support tools. The focus is on particularly relevant concepts such as community work and socio-spatial analysis as well as their practical implementation. Central aspects of project work and the project workshop include participation, reducing stigmata, raising awareness on the topic of urban gardening, and explaining its relevance for Social Work.
