We implement a media product – a TV show – together with people with (learning) disabilities and accompany the project scientifically. If possible, the research project will be jointly designed by students and people with (learning) disabilities. People with (learning) disabilities will be significantly involved in decisions on the research questions.
Media work with and by people with a (learning) disability and its social pedagogy guidance is a very recent phenomenon. People with a learning disability need support to be able to participate in our (mediated) society. This support and guidance need to ensure that they can actually contribute their topics and their individual language to the media product. This requires both sides, the protagonists and the affected people, to overcome the real barriers as much as the barriers in their head.
The purpose is to research processes of inclusive media work according to the interests of the students conducting the research. The focus is on the participation of people with a (learning) disability in media production and development. By adopting diversity and participation as approaches, the project ensures that this group of people can speak for themselves and thereby allows relatives or people outside of a professional setting to learn of their wishes.
