LGBTIQ Topics in Social Work

Social Work has not intensively addressed LGBTIQ topics so far, although the equal treatment of LGBTIQ persons has been increasingly discussed as part of the EU member states’ political agenda these past few years.

The research examines the inequalities experienced by LGBTIQ persons in Austria when it comes to social and health services as well as existing offers designed to reduce or counteract these inequalities. The focus is on adopting an intersectional perspective that explores the interrelationships between various categories of difference (e.g., “woman”, “Black”, “with a disability”) and overlaps between inequality and discrimination.
