Misclick! Pathological Internet Use

The association “Dialog – Individuelle Suchthilfe in Wien” works with people suffering from an addiction as well as their relatives in an out-patient setting and a multiprofessional mode. In the context of pathological Internet use (PIU), special one-on-one coachings for affected persons and their relatives are offered. At the moment, specialists are working on the introduction of a “family council” offer for this target group. The concept of consistent joint process design between the involved persons and the view to resources in the system has reached a new level of intensity and quality in the association “Dialog” and generally in the area of counseling for persons with addiction problems or PIU. For this reason, the process will be accompanied by research drawing on the experiences of the association “Dialog” and of the involved environment. These insights are to be combined with the existing literature, also in an international context.

As this is a new offer, conceptual results for attractive information design on behalf of the involved stakeholders are also necessary and desirable in order to achieve the necessary acceptance for an offer that has to power to bring about a paradigm shift in support for this target group.
