By now, Austria has reached the second year of the “coronavirus pandemic”. This is accompanied by a profound social and economic crisis (the strongest recession since the 1930s) and various accompanying effects (for example, a strong rise in unemployment, a rise in mental illness, an increase of existing social inequalities).

However, the implications of the “coronavirus pandemic” and the measures that came with it do not affect everybody to the same extent. One of the most affected groups of people are unhoused and unsheltered people. Therefore, their situation shall be determined within the framework of a project workshop.

The questions to be explored in this project cover the experience of the “coronavirus pandemic” and the “COVID-19 crisis/crises”, what their implications have been, and how they have been handled. The topic’s relevance is highlighted by the continuation of various crises which resulted from the pandemic, the severe effects it has had on unsheltered and unhoused people, and the marginalisation they have experienced. In the project workshop, a mixed methods approach is used to answer the research questions.
