Development of automated methods of segmenting rock images featuring petroglyphs.
Petroglyph Detection and Classification
Advances in digital photography mean that the number of high quality images of rock panels containing petroglyphs is steadily increasing. A range of time-consuming manual methods of determining and documenting the exact shapes and spatial locations of petroglyphs on panels have been used for decades. We aim to develop automated methods of segmenting rock images featuring petroglyphs.
