Nursing and care duties within families are typically assumed by women who often bear the main responsibility for coordinating and providing care. As a consequence, it is mostly up to one person to make sure that the family member in need of care is provided for. This concentration of tasks on one person leads to significant stress and health risks for the principal caregiver, while other family members tend to offer only temporary support.

The Family Council is a support method in Social Work that could help to counteract this dynamic, which is typical when it comes to care work for older family members. In this master project, students evaluated the Family Council as a support conference within the context of caring for older family members. They carried out a conceptional concretization based on practical experience and developed a concept for practical use.
